the desert speaks

At first glance the desert isn’t very inviting. Not only does it seem uninviting, but it actually seems forbidding. You see little but sand, low scrub, cactus and other gnarly brittle tough looking plants, and dry bare wrinkled folded up mountain ranges. It can be harsh and extreme… it can also be subtle and sublime. Always beautiful, though in it’s own raw elemental bare-bones way.

It’s a land of mystery and magic. And mysticism. After spending even a short time in the desert you begin to understand why mystics and shamans of many cultures and persuasions were drawn there. The desert speaks. It speaks volumes to those willing to listen and learn. I haven’t yet begun to understand what it’s saying, but I’m listening…
